Don’t miss the Desert Rat Regional Chili Cook-off at the American Legion in California City. This year the event is dedicated to the memory of long-time chilihead, Philip Harry Morosky – better known as “Dirty Ole Phil” and the cook of “Roadside Chili!” Phil was instrumental in organizing this event for many years, while also raising money for the American Legion.
Your favorite crew will run the show making sure all involved have an incredible time - as always! Captain Jim will serve has Chief Judge and says this is one of his favorite cook-offs each year. Mike ‘Uglee’ Austin will emcee and may even bring his turtle and pony show! Randy will be on deck playing some of your favorite tunes, and Donnie Gordon will diligently determine the winners as the Chief Scorekeeper!
The American Legion will hold a free breakfast for cooks and judges on Saturday morning from 7:00am - 8:30am, or until it's all eaten up! The Legion will also provide a Saturday night dinner for a fee [price TBD]. Cooks may keep their vehicle either behind or alongside their canopy. Those with RVs are also welcome to dry camp and cook right out of their RV! (RV option must pre-notify Jim.)
